Despite ongoing definitional confusion, the topic of consent has become a central concern in the analysis of youth
cultures in an increasingly mediatised world. The article begins with a thematic analysis of 32 semi-structured interviews with
young adults between the ages of 18 and 25, focusing on the meanings attributed to online consent by both girls and boys, their
experiences of violations, and the everyday practices and modes of defence related to such violations.
